For an existing drawing or a measured list of straight pieces, including mixed lengths. No slab geometry is needed.
- A row per piece type
- Diameter, required cut length and whole quantity. Add a row when length or diameter changes.
- Unit mass
- Use the automatic theoretical value or enter a positive mass per length from your product data.
The schedule groups totals by diameter. Purchase & Cut uses a stock profile per diameter and preserves the original installed requirements.
- Total piece count, installed length and mass for the schedule. The exported report also groups these totals by diameter.
- Stock bar count and cutting patterns, with cutting loss and reusable offcuts shown separately.
Ten straight 12 mm bars, using theoretical steel density 7850 kg/m³.
| Quantity | Value |
|---|---|
| Cut length; quantity | 4 m; 10 |
| Stock; cut loss; lap | 12 m; 0 m; 0 m |
| Installed length; mass | 40 m; 35.513 kg |
| Stock bars; purchased length | 4; 48 m |
| Total offcut length | 8 m |
Installed length = 4 × 10. Unit mass = π × 0.012² / 4 × 7850. A 12 m stock bar supplies three 4 m pieces with zero cut loss. Four stock bars supply the ten required pieces; the last bar retains 8 m.
After a valid grid or straight-bar result, enter the stock length for each diameter. Set cut loss, a reusable-remnant threshold and a specified lap only where needed. A piece longer than usable stock requires longer stock or an explicitly supplied lap.
The plan separates installed length, physical cut pieces, added lap length, purchased length, cutting loss and remnants. Read the solver status: “best found” means the best plan found within its search, not proof of the absolute minimum.
Metric and imperial dimensions are supported. Use the lengths and lap requirements specified for the job; the app does not design reinforcement for structural loads.
Diameter choices are physical sizes, not a UK steel grade catalogue. Theoretical mass from diameter is an estimate; check the specified product data before ordering.
The example assumes no saw loss and no lap. Set actual losses before purchasing. Bent shapes, hook allowances and a cost estimate are not included in this straight-piece schedule.
Will the app invent a lap length?
No. If a long run needs splicing, you must supply the specified lap or choose longer stock.
Can I use every offcut?
Classification depends on the minimum reusable length you enter. It does not guarantee that an offcut is suitable for another part of the job.
